In my life I have been a son, a brother, a man, a student, a graduate, a teacher, an employee, a business owner, a manager, a friend, a husband and a divorcee
Each of these labels taught me more about myself. Each of these labels held me back from being fully myself.
Now, as I sit here, I'm over halfway through my life. I'm overweight. I'm somewhat sedentary. I'm single. I'm an introvert.
More labels.
But increasingly I've found satisfaction in life. I've found freedom in accepting who I am. I've found I can choose who I listen to, who I send time with. Which labels (if any) I want to fit into.
So this is a lifestyle blog, for people like me. Men who have worked and gained experience over their lives. Men who have realised that they don't need to be defined by their partner. Men who no longer wish to spend their time chasing the next level of the corporate hierarchy or business success. Men who don't have dependents. Men who are still coming to terms with learning exactly who they are.
This isn't about a midlife crisis - it is about a midlife opportunity!
I'm not going to talk about amassing more stuff. But I am going to talk about making life easier - so that you can focus your time on the things most important to you.
Things important to me include traveling, learning, reading, creativity, thinking, technology and enjoying simple pleasures like food, drink, and yes, good television. So I'll probably spend time writing about those too.
Ultimately this is going to be about uncovering your own form of masculinity - and doing it your way. It's going to be about both exploring the world and exploring yourself. And it's about the rebellion inherent in searching for personal freedom.
